School History

Outside of LE Berger

The original building was built in 1968 to serve as a middle school; it became an elementary school in 1986. The school has received three separate additions (2004, 2016, and 2020).

The building occupies a 16.8-acre site in northern West Fargo and has a preferred capacity of 460 and a maximum capacity of 572.

L.E. Berger Elementary School is home to the Berger Bears. The school is named after Mr. L.E. Berger, who served as superintendent from 1936 -1972. The school belongs to the Packer feeder-system; students move on to Cheney Middle School and West Fargo High School.

The building’s principals have included: Gerald Hagen, Dennis Howitz (1995 - 2012), Manix Zepeda (2012 - 2017), Chad Clark (2017 – 2019), Brian Peterson (2019 - 2023), and Tabatha Joyce (2023-current).
